GrId Quilting

Grid  Quilting

What  a  neat way to quilt -I have  been  looking  for something that  I could manage ...and  this  one  is it - she  has  more  pictures and  is  using blue painters  tape ,I  didn't have  blue painters  tape so I used  a  2 inch stiff  ribbon and  pinned it across and  sewed  beside  it and kept moving it over  like she  did her tape...turned out beautiful.

Here  is  one  of mine..straight lines  for a  change  is nice!!

Another  one ,a  beautiful  fall fabric - I always enjoy working  with the  oranges and  greens and browns  of  fall.

I  just laid the  ribbon across the  squares and pinned  in place.
Larger grid will need a  wider  ribbon...love   this and  so easy
for a  change!

Binding

Didn't  do so good  here  on this  practice  binding ...my hands  don't want to work and  neither  does  this  fabric..

This  is  the  xmas flannel I fell in love  with
a  week  or so ago - I ordered  it and started in
on cutting a  few  things I wanted to make.

So many wonderful things  to make  with the

flannel- I have a  baby quilt and  a tote going .
                                             -lots  of  fun.

mug  rug -I  love the  patchy
                                                               look of this  fabric

                                                                Ice  skates on black

                                                  Cardinal pouches

 Mittens & Snowman Pads
for the  kitchen or just an  accent on a  table.

A poodle  pad
same  thing - use  in the  kitchen for your coffee
or on a table or night stand.

Napkins With Mitred Corner

                                              Tutorial

A great tutorial for your corners -good  instructions and  good  pictures  to follow .For  some  reason I have  had  problems  with the  mitred corners...seems  simple  enough  until I go to fold it over  to form the mitre. I think I have  it now...the last one  looked  pretty  good and  I was  happy  with it...now to get it straight and will use  the  walking  foot and  hope  it  is nice and  smooth, and  unwrinkled.

More Pin Cushions

Doll Pin Cushions

I suppose  you just cut these  out of the  doll fabric and  sew  together and  stuff....I  have  black and  pink doll  cloth.

Chicken Pin Cushion

I saw  this tutorial  on you tube and  he is  adorable - how  about some  Christmas chickens  to have  around  for  gifts and  some of  those  fancy pins to give  to all  your quilting and sewing  friends? I'm putting him on  my list "Things  I need for my  Christmas Box"

This  one  is a  little  different - looks  simplier in a  way - she uses ric rac for some  of the  trim ...I like  this  one just as  much and I  love the  sunny fabric that  she  used....happy chicken making !!

Christmas Ideas

Fast ,Fun Projects

Don't  you   just love these  kind  of books? It's  the  kind  where  I can get lost in all of the  details ...thread,cloth and color...yes, color is the  best part and  the  planning ...humm  can I do this one? This one  looks  too  hard for me ..on and  on ...the pin  cushion looks  so pretty and  I want to make  one  now !!   Who don't  love  the  roses  on the  cup and the  black and  white  bag is so me !

Cute  Bag  from the  book  -love  this  one - I am  already planning  to make  this  bag!! Looks  simple  enough  too.

Scrappy Creations

Black & White Scrappy Bag

This  little  bag is  made  like the  scrap blocks and the  table  runners  I did -its  not  finished - I have  it almost done -pins  hold  the  lace, pocket and  zipper in place waiting  for the  finish.

Quilted Cosmetic  Bag

I love the  browns and blacks in this  double  sided  quilted fabric...I made  bags  from this  several years  ago and  I found some  left overs  in my scraps...it too awaits its  finish.

Coffee  Mug Rug

I  must be  in a  dark mood  with all this dark fabric...it's  really some  of my favorite colors....I think the  dark is  rich and  warm  &  Inviting. This  little rug  needs  quilted and the  binding  put  around  it - I am  working  on my mitred  corners.

Pin Cushion

He's  finished !! I make  at least one  pin  cushion a  week !! Love the  pin  cushions....these  are  pre cut squares  from  "Jubliee" fabrics...home spun  fabric and  fat quarters  for rag  quilts or whatever  suits  your  fancy.I  have  a  whole  stack of these  in my favorite green, blues and  reds.

Christmas Scrappy Blocks

More  Christmas  blocks  that  need to be  trimmed and  squared up - most likely  these  will be  for pillows....I was  crying  over the  little Christmas  dog  print  and  low and  behold  I found  a  whole  uncut yard....a  very happy sewer here  !!

Lemons Mug Rug or Candle Rug

Another  little  rug/mat - all pinned and  ready to sew - the  backing  will be the trim and  again working on the  mitred  corners and  using  my walking  foot  for these  jobs...no bunnching or wrinkles....it's  nice when  things  start  to look better !!

Labor  Day

It's  been another  long week end...very hot here  in Texas ,I have  been  working on projects and  cutting  some  strips  for binding and trim for my Chrsitmas  Tree  Blocks...also another scrappy  runner- I keep coming up with these  ideas....will show  you that  one  as  soon as  I have it  underway....no mail  today ,that  means my charm packs and  my 10" square  ruler  is out there somewhere  in the  land of possible "lost packages"Happy Labor Day!
